This story is about a frog mother who hatching her eggs by keeping them inside her stomach. Sounds interesting! Did you know? We all love our mother right? She is the person who gives her love, attention, time and everything she can without expecting anything from us in return. And other person do love us in that way is our father.
A group of researchers found this frog mother from Australia in 1980s. Actually these frogs are Authentic to Australia. They were amazed how these frog mothers doing such a thing.
At the end of the research they found out really great information about this frog mothers. The unique way of parental care makes these frogs special.
After external fertilizing by frog father, frog mother embryos eggs into her mouth and swallow them. The frog mother gathers about 24 eggs at once. When eggs became larvae, the weight of the larvae are about 40 percent of her weight. It is about 68 pounds (68 kg) before pregnancy, and 24 babies, weighing 1.8 pounds (1.8 kg). The frog’s mother’s craw enlarges towards to frog mother’s lungs are trickling so as not to breathe. So she gets oxygen through the skin.
At the time the female swallowed the fertilize eggs her stomach is no different from that of any other frogs. In the jelly around each egg is a substance which could turn off production of Hydrochloric Acid in the stomach. This jelly is enough to cease the production of acid during the embryonic stages of the developing eggs. When the eggs had hatched the tadpoles created same jelly. The mucus excreted from the tadpoles’ gills contained the jelly necessary to keep the stomach in a non-functional state. These mucus excretions do not occur in tadpoles of most other species. Tadpoles that don’t live entirely off a yolk supply still produce mucus cord, but the mucus along with small food particles travels down the gut. During the period that the offspring were present in the stomach the frog mother would not eat.
After 6 week of hatching period new born frog babies come out from the mother frog’s stomach through her mouth. Every baby frogs wouldn’t come out at the same time it will take several days to get out of the stomach. When the come out, if the frog mother feels danger, she quickly expels the baby froggies to a safe place or as far as her can expel. A group of researchers have observed that a frog mother expel about six feet at a time.
This frog mother is a wonderful creature with unique parental techniques. Even the way of hatching make her suffer or keep her hungry for a long time it seem doesn’t matter to her. At the period of time this loving frog mother keep her life second to the little frog babies. That is mother’s love. It is not important mother is a human or not. Love and protection will always there if mother is there!
